How to prevent lice?

So my mom works at a preschool and she thinks she may have lice, I want to do everything possible to not get it. Please any advice to keep me from getting lice even though I have to be in the same general area as my mom? Thanks!

Lice like clean hair so maybe (even if it sounds gross then stop using shampoo every day or two an only use it every 3 days or something and put products in your hair (they don't like that) like maye hairspray. Also you can keep your hair up or maybe braid it. Don't rub her hair against your hair and don't share a hat headband ponytail or brush.

Put vaseline in your hair this keeps the lice away since its to sticky for the female to stay in or lay her eggs
