who were the good guys, the Kingdom of Judah or the Kingdom of Israel?

    Both the kingdom of Israel and the kingdom of Judah were good

    The split was the bad thing.

    The kings who acted against the Israeli Constitution to cause and perpetuate the split were bad guys.

    The simple Jews of Northern Israel (the one led by Ephraim) and Southern Israel (the one led by Judah) who suffered for their politics were good guys.

    In specific cases, one side or the other or both were wrong.

    For example, the king of Northern Israel (the one led by Ephraim) at one point prevented his subjects from traveling to Jerusalem to sacrifice, and eventually created his own competing temple.

    This was a very bad thing to do.

    As Northern Israel fell,

    the king of Southern Israel (the one led by Judah) took in refugees from the North to the level that the population of Southern Israel was doubled through the refugees.

    This was a very good thing to do.
