Good Size Horse?

I'd recommend a small horse or a pony for someone your size. A shorter horse will fit your shorter leg much better than a tall horse, where you'll be perched on top like a child on a draft horse.

A horse that doesn't match your leg is harder to ride. He's harder to cue, because your calf doesn't touch where it can be most effective. More importantly, he'll be harder to stay on, simply because you can't wrap your lower leg around the curve of his barrel. My favorite instructor (5' with short legs) has this problem - she's college trained, ridden since she was 2, jumped pro on the big circuits, trained horses at some big hunter barns, but if one of the big ones wants her off, that's it. It's not all balance when they're bucking! She rides them beautifully, but they can get her off pretty easily. The smaller ones she sticks like a tick.

If you're done growing, I'd get a large pony. I love ponies, but at 5'7" I'm too tall, and my leg is too large for them. At MOST, something around 15 hands would be good.

It also depends on your level and your goals. But if you're just starting or intermediate, you'll be most comfortable and safest on a pony - like a 13-14 hand Welsh. These do everything the big guys do - except maybe take you to the highest levels of dressage and jumping. But if you were ready for those, you'd know what size to get!

You can get whatever size you want, of course, but if you want a really tall one, make sure he's bombproof.

It depends on how much you think you can take. The average horse penis is 1.5 feet to 3.5 feet long.
