Well, what do you think of Rand Paul announcement? A pretty impressive speech ehh? Do you believe him?

I have a problem with him saying we have 3 trillion/yr revenue and we should be able to run the country on it. Then on the other hand he appears overly hawkish saying we will defend our interests over seas. If that's the case 3 trillion will not be enough and you guessed it, the poorest of us will take the brunt of cuts. Why is there always enough money for war but to hell with the needy?

He's just another Republican even though he says he wants to end special interests in Washington. That's what the vote is for.

Update:

Foreign Aid is less than 1% of our budget. Gunz below seems to thinks it's normal to send our troops to die in order to keep the war machine primed. Now it's not normal to not be in a war? I know that's what our country was built on but it's sick and has to stop.

You right wing war mongers still haven't figured out that fighting these battles is what got us in this mess.

And the unemployment figures are dropping unlike any time in history

The President is a success but that doesn't matter, you will repeat the same old rhetoric no matter how false it is. How does it feel to support a party with no compassion, conscience, integrity or plan other than to help the rich get richer. You are taking the great experiment and making it into a folly for clowns and thieves. I truly don't understand cons, to hell with the suffering people and giving that money to disgustingly rich people who do not deserve it. This experiment is failing because of you.

I don't care for Rand Paul, nor for Ted Cruz. Too much of the opportunist about those guys.

In my book, they're just Republican versions of Barack Obama, although I will give them credit for lying quite a bit less.

Do you not realize that the Defense budget employs millions? If you cut the defense budget jobs will be lost. And no I dont mean just soldiers. Part of the defense budget is buying weapons, ammo, vehicles, etc for these soldiers and guess who makes them? Private companies employing lots of Americans. If the defense budget gets slashed than there will be less buying of weapons, etc and jobs will be lost. Besides the defense budget is only 18% whereas entitlement benefits (education, healthcare, social security, etc are 61% so I think the poor already get more than enough

Considering that Defense is only 16% of the budget, that leaves plenty of room to trim elsewhere.

Really, only 16%. I know many think a much larger amount is spent on defense, but nope, it's 16%.

I say slowly phase out foreign aid to other countries, especially those who are less than friendly like Pakistan or Gaza, and use that money for US!
