If rent for a two-bedroom apartment is $770 per month does that mean me and my roommate have to each pay $770?

$770 is what the landlord needs each month, total. If you have a second person then split the cost down the middle.

Remember you'll probably have to pay for heat (check to see if that's included). Phone bills are yours to pay, not the landlord's problem.

No, rents are not advertised per person unless you are renting just a room. That is for the entire unit. How you 2 split the rent is between the 2 of you.

That depends on what the lease says. Most apartments, you pay one price for the entire unit.

If you are lookiong at student accommodations, it is very likely that the price is per bedroom.

I suggest you learn how to read your rental agreement. If you don't understand it, have someone (besides the landlord) explain it to you.
