These two triangles are similar. Find x. I think the answer is 32.7 but I'm not sure if I'm correct.?

    Hypotenuse/hypotenuse = side facing the angle given /side facing the angle given = other side/other side

    The hypotenuse in the first triangle is 54.5 The hypotenuse in the other triangle is 15. In the first triangle, the side facing the angle given is x right? In the second triangle, the side facing the given angle is 9. Write a proportion.

    54.5/15 = x/9

    Cross products.

    15x = 54.5 * 9

    15x = 490.5

    x = 32.7 and you're correct!

    x / 12 = 54.5 / 15

    x = (12/15) (54.5)

    x = (4/5) 54.5)

    x = 4 x 10 • 9

    x = 43 • 6

    x/9 = 54.5/15

    5x = 163.5

    x = 32.7
