One row of keys on my Apple USB Keyboard has gone bad?

So my school's I.T dept gave me one of those aluminum USB Apple keyboards. It was free because one row of keys (Caps lock to J) are dead. I've scrubbed 'em top and bottom with rubbing alcohol. There's no visible tears in the rubber. Any ideas?

HI there! Unfortunately, there is little that can be done if your keyboard is experiencing this issue other than replacing the keyboard. Based on my experience, it is likely that the keyboard has experienced some kind of damage which has damaged the internal circuit board controlling the keyboard. Even though you do not see any tears in the rubber, it is quite possible that something happened to the keyboard (spill, or physical damage) that you cannot see.

You can purchase a replacement Apple aluminum keyboard from between 20 and 60 dollars depending on the vendor. Be sure no matter where you get the keyboard, be sure that you get it from a reputable company who will provide you with a way to return the product if it is defective.

    Good Luck!

    Key word "visible" tears.

Cleaning should be "Electrical tuner" cleaner not alcohol. Alcohol may affect the bed of the circuits.

Test conduction by using a simple flashlight bulb, battery and two wires, if you do not have a circuit tester.
