Small fish for small tank?
I want a fish that I can keep in a small/medium tank or bowl that is not a Betta or Goldfish. I'm considering getting some schooling fish, but I would prefer 3 or less so I can keep track of them and their little fish personalities. I'm new to aquatic life so I want one that won't cause me too much trouble, but a little trouble is always welcome (learning opportunity!). I'm looking at Tetras right now because they are so beautiful, I've also been look at some Kissing Gouramis that seem pretty interesting to raise. Please help! Thank you.

Don't keep any fish in a bowl. I'd recommend a 10 - 15g gallon tank for a schooling fish. But you need to get several, 3 or less isn't enough and they may not have their normal behaviour due to a stressful environment , i.e. not enough of their species to school with (afterall they are schooling fish).

unfortunatly small tanks or bowls are a loose loose situation.
small fish usually require 5 or more fish, a small 'school' for them to be happy so a small tank will be too small for that many.
1 fish in a small tank, will be stressful for the fish because it's alone, and a small tank will quickly become dirty and the ammonia levels in the water will get high quickly.

What is a "small/medium tank",? For me that's a 29 gallon tank, anything smaller is hard to keep healthy with any fish. Bowls and smaller tanks are death traps
