Why is Hillary Clinton casting herself as a champion for "everyday Americans"?

I think it's because she knows the Republican candidate WON'T BE such a champion. She has a lot of dubious association with wealthy corporate donors to the Clinton Foundation, sure. But she's probably counting on the fact that most voters rightly expect the Republican Party to act as a shameless front group for the "1 percent," so that we will support her -- or almost any other Democrat -- as a better alternative.

Hillary's candidacy, and her positioning herself as a champion of the ordinary person, reminds me of "Winner-Take-All Politics," a great book by political scientists Jacob Hacker and Paul Pierson.

What "Winner-Take-All Politics" argues is that the Democratic Party is about half-controlled by the biggest corporations and the rich. But the Republican Party is nearly ALL controlled by the rich & powerful.

If we were casting an old-fashioned Hollywood western movie with politicians from the two parties, Hacker & Pierson write, the Republicans would be wearing "black hats" -- in Hollywood flicks from the 1950s, the sure sign of being the villains.

The Democrats, on the other hand, would be wearing "gray hats" -- not white hats, to show they are the Good Guys, because they're not all good guys. But they're not only the party of stage coach robbers, horse thieves & corrupt small town bankers & crooked sheriffs, the way the GOP is.

    - a democratic socialist for more truth in American politics, and for the "lesser evil" when that's the best choice

When the Republicans go after nearly every type of American but the wealthy, you can see where there would be a vacuum when it comes to the middle class. Republicans want to change anything beneficial to the middle class, and rain benefits on the wealthy. And the wealthy don't need them, and most of them don't care if they get another million or two in their tax returns. The Republicans want to end or curtail or change things that actually work, like Social Security, and Medicare, they call hard working Americans thugs and thieves if they belong to a union but they don't seem to mind money going to agribusiness in the millions. Republicans think they're going with the money, and with the right wing religious people who want to inflict their social opinions of the rest of us. Clinton is casting herself as a woman interested in the rights of everyday Americans because that's what she is. She's not from a rich family, her father was a successful small businessman and mom was a homemaker.

The Clinton Foundation, for those of you casting unfair aspersions, was set up to combat poverty in the U.S. and around the world. Check it out. Hillary Clinton has been a life-long champion for women's rights and for children's issues, to include the right to a quality education. As Secretary of State, Hillary met with world leaders and international ambassadors for the purpose of creating new trade deals for American-made goods and for American workers in ways that will benefit this nation's economy for years and years to come.

During Hillary Clinton's years as Senator for New York, she consistently reached across the aisle to work with Republicans and her Democratic colleagues to get legislations passed that helped "everyday Americans" in her state and in the country as a whole. Even ornery Faux "news" owner Rupert Murdoch referred to Senator Clinton as "she's a rock star." Hillary is a champion for everyday Americans, so why not let this be known?

She is a champion of the everyday rich and elite.

She also sold out the women just so the U.S. could have its first black President - SHE had the votes necessary to win the nomination and then some.

However,I will not vote for her simply because she claimed to be the "CO- President of the U.S." during Bill Clintons admin.

Besides,it also means that Bill would be back in the White House and getting involved in another "Monica Lewinzky" scandal.

It's advertising. She is trying to convince you that she will "fight" for the causes you believe in. Such as the following:

Not helping military men and women when in danger.

Selling out to corporations and their interests.

Support women's rights as in believe only what a woman says a man did to her and not look at the investigation impartially.

Take advantage of interns. Bonus for Bill.

Yes, she is an everyday American.

You have to be reminded of how we got to where we are now, every day.

Hillary Clinton, merely by coincidence of running as a Democrat, already has the following voters on her side (statistically as a group):

    - The LGBT Community

    - Blacks, Latinos, Asians, and other racial and ethnic minorities

    - Women

    - Young Voters (statistically, the youth vote (ages 18-26 or so) is primarily Democrat)

There is no chance in hell that she will be able to swing for rich white men nor CEOs to vote for her, so the only other community of voters that she could possibly hope to sway are working class to lower middle class everyday families and workers, who often vote Republican. If she can get them on her side, she has a good chance of winning. This next election will most likely be decided based on which candidate can rally the working class under their banner the best.

Obviously, she feels that "everyday Americans" are an important demographic to capture in her campaign for President. Besides, "everyday Americans" truly need a champion, and if she keeps her pledges to them (us), we just might achieve some amazing things between her inauguration and the end of her second term.

Hillary is trying to cast the Republicans as the party for the rich -- which they are. She needs the vote of working class whites (a pivotal demographic) and to win the hearts of middle class women. She will not get the male middle class vote. She will win with Hispanics. Blacks may not turn out for her. Jeb Bush will be a formidable adversary. He comes across with far more warmth than Hillary. And he will bury her in fund raising. It will be a battle of the Titans.

Because she is. There are a lot of people who have been successful yet know enough about where they came from to still have empathy for those who are still struggling to make it. People who talk about "job creators", about people who need help being lazy mooches, about rich people paying too much in taxes etc. are condescending and have nothing in common with "everyday Americans". People who talk about providing a living wage, affordable healthcare for all, and a safety net for kids, elders, disabled, and those who have fallen on hard times are the champions of "everyday Americans".
