Considering PS4 and XBOX1 are only a couple of years old, how realistic are the graphics going to get? Will next Gen be all virtual reality? Your thoughts and opinions please.?

The graphical capabilities of the Xbox One and PS4 are nearly maxed out according to several developers, I don't think the graphical out puts of the games on either console is going to be head and shoulders above what we are already seeing from both consoles. x86 architecture has been around for years and most developers who make games for PC and Consoles will be able to create games that take full advantage of the new hardware. It's not like back in generation seven and below when each company would use different architecture such as Sony's cell processor and PowerPC.

The hardware inside the PS4 and Xbox One was largely outdated back when both consoles were announced two years ago. These two consoles are struggling to render 1080p/60 fps in most games when PC gaming is already moving into 4K territory.

It could be another console generation or two before photo-realistic graphics come to fruition and even then nothing is guaranteed.

Also I have to be honest here; I couldn't care less about the 'realistic' graphics, when I play games I don't want realism, I want escapism.

Ori and the Blind Forest is my favourite game of 2015 so far and that is not realistic at all. I don't care for realism in games because I play games to escape from the harsh realities of life.

If you want to see the possible potential for increase in graphics, look at Call of Duty 2 compared to Call of Duty Advanced Warfare (CoD 2 was released at the start of Xbox 360 and Advanced Warfare was at the start of Xbox One). The graphics difference is insane - and it's on the same hardware, so I think Xbox One and PS4 have huge potential in the future.
