Why did people create myths such as Santa, Toothfairy, Easter Bunny, etc?

I know they're not real but what about all the little kids who's dreams get crushed when they find out that it's been their parents all along?

    For fun, that's why. Santa is pure unadulterated 100% fun.

    All myths and folklore come from some truth. You just have to research the truth behind the myth. Some are quite interesting.
