Can I go to two colleges at once?
I'm currently at community college. I get aid for community college. I want to attend fashion merchandising program online. Could I get a federal loan for the online program and aid for the other?

You cannot receive a Pell grant at two colleges at once, but you can receive federal student loans. However, you will not receive more aid--whatever aid you qualify for would have to be split between the two schools. Also, the two colleges would have to agree to work together to ensure that you are not overawarded and that certain items in your Cost of Attendance budget are not duplicated. Colleges hate to do this because it can lead to errors that are hard to correct, so expect them to try to discourage you. Another factor that may affect you is that in order to receive aid at a school you must be enrolled in an eligible program that leads to a degree or certificate. You must also be enrolled at least half time (usually 6 credits) at each of the schools to receive loans. An eaiser way to approach the problem may be to take all of your aid at once school. If it's more than the school charges you, then the difference will be refunded back to you and you can then use it to pay the other school.
