How long does it take you to edit 10 pages?

I've never really bothered how long it takes me to do individual pages - I just know how many days, weeks or months the whole thing takes.

At a rough guess, a structural edit would take several hours, though I'd usually be looking at more than 10 pages at a time. A line edit would take a few hours, though it would depend on how careless I'd been in the first draft.

I timed a couple of copy edits of other people's writing once. One of my critique partners, who writes very clean drafts, would probably take me about 30 minutes for 10 pages. Another writer I know, whose drafts are... not so clean... would take about 2 hours.

It depends on the pages. Some pages need more editing than others and some pages don;t need editing at all. it also depends on how in-depth the editing is needed, like is it structural or line editing? Am I dealing with complicated syntax or just missing a comma here and there. It's different for every page and every peice of work, and thus, this answer cannot be answered becasue it simply: depends. good luck with your wrk.

I write pretty clean first drafts, so I could probably edit it for mistakes in language, spelling, sentence structure, all that, in an hour or so. But if you write fast and sloppy (nothing wrong with that, BTW), then your editing is going to take longer.

If it's easy material it would take me 1-2 hours to go through and tighten my writing. If it's complex material involving research, it could easily be 3-4 hours or more. Course this would also depend on whether it was single or double-spaced.
