Which fonts are best for someone to write edit, and proofread with? Which are best on the computer screen for the writer's eyes?
I'm trying to edit an essay, but at times, I ll be staring at the screen for a while, straining my eyes. Certain fonts, when I read them after having been staring at the screen for a while, make me miss typos and repeated words.
Which fonts are visually efficient for the writing process? Also, if anyone knows anything about font psychology: which ones are best to help you stay alert/attentive in your writing?
1 AnswerPsychology6 years agoComposing a grad school personal statement, should talk about being international and/or explain why I wanna study in the country?
I mean, I m applying to a specific program and I m spending the majority of the essay talking about the subject and my interest in it. I m not sure if I should insert me being international or answer the question "Why do you want to study in this country/move far away?"
1 AnswerHigher Education (University +)6 years agoHow long does it take you to edit 10 pages?
I have a manuscript do tomorrow and I have a lot of editing to do before I submit it. How long does it take you to tighten your writing and edit 10 pages?
4 AnswersBooks & Authors6 years agoWhat's the name of the creative slowdown in which your writing's quality slips & you're suddenly unable to compose decent sentences?
Not writer's block; I'm talking about the thing that takes place when you can come up with ideas, but you can no longer compose well written sentences or put your thoughts to page in a cohesive way.
I'm not talking about lack of talent by the way lol.
Do you have any tips for coping?
2 AnswersBooks & Authors6 years agoWhen I raise my ears/eyebrows, I hear noise that sounds like someone turning a page in a book or ripping a wet piece of paper. What is this?
Despite that description, there's no pain. It's just this noise. Everytime I jerk my ear. This slight "fwlip" noise.
Does this mean there's fluid in the ear?
2 AnswersOther - Diseases6 years agoCan ear cartilage become detached/off kilter?
I've had bad sinus problems for the past month, and I've been tugging at my ear a lot. Recently, I've noticed that behind the top part of my ear, there seems to be more hard cartilage exposed than on my other ear. Maybe it's just swollen from touching it so much?
Other - General Health Care6 years agoI'm a crappy singer unless I'm singing in a falsetto. What the heck?
I mean, I'm sure I can be trained to sing full voice, but I literally can't get the breathing right and my voice is mega throaty. For some reason, I can sing falsetto. And, I can sing in it really well. I'm a male tenor, and in falsetto I can hit the high note in Let It Go (I think that's a high C?). I have no idea why this is. I mean, are some people just born "falsetto" singers? I guess Frankie Valley and Adam Levine were...?
1 AnswerSinging6 years agoHow long to keep earwax removal/ear unclogging drops in for? Am I doing it right?
My one ear is so clogged I feel like I m going deaf. It s definitely earwax. I can even feel it in there. It s just really deep. I ve tried these drops before, but they haven t done much. I ve been keeping them in for 5 minutes or so. Should I keep them in longer? It doesn t say on the box how long to keep em in for. :/ But all I know is that everytime I go to "rinse them," nothing comes out except for the rinsing water (I ve heard stories of how wads of junk are supposed to fall out). Please and thank you :)
2 AnswersOther - Health6 years agoEar feels clogged depending my position. What do I do?
It's my left ear that's clogged. If I lay on my left side, it doesn't feel as clogged. If i'm on my right, it's super clogged. If I'm sitting straight up it's clogged. Is this liquid in the ear would you say? Or something sinus related? I've been trying to remove wax from my ears for the past few days with drops. So maybe it's solution or water?

3 AnswersAllergies6 years agoWays to remedy a very defined labiomental crease--without botox? (that's the crease underneath the bottom lip, above the chin).?
So, I'm really self-conscious about this. I'm only 22, but I have a full fledged, and very noticeable labiomental crease. Although everyone has the crease to some degree, mine has taken on an appearance that is way more distinct and noticeable.
People aren't usually supposed to see its definition until their later years, but mine came about now because of a sinus infection (bear with me for a second, I'll explain). So, this Fall I had a horrible sinus infection that left my ears extremely clogged. I constantly tried "unclogging them" by doing that jaw shift thing--you know the one, people do it to unpop their ears on airplanes. Well, the clogging was so bad that it lasted for a while and so I kept doing the jaw shift thing. The jaw shift maneuver--I don't know its actual name--is likely why I've seen an increase in definition--the labiomental crease is apparently made more noticeable by "continuous upwards shifting of the bottom jaw." Anyway, now my chin has somewhat of a parabola shape above it, and it's making me extremely self-conscious.
My question is: has anyone experienced any similar definition developments in this area before? If so what did you do about it, or what would you recommend?
To the general public: what would you recommend to remedy this? Do you know any affordable ways that aren't botox? Maybe a brand of wrinkle cream of some sort. Thanks!
Other - Skin & Body6 years agoAre you allowed to play loud music during the day in a residential area?
My neighbors are blasting speakers. Even though it's 6:30 pm (they often blast it at night as well), I'm trying to do homework, but can hear their music thumping.
7 AnswersEtiquette7 years agoCan you ask your landlord to tell your neighbors to turn the music down (if you live in a duplex/apartment building)?
My neighbors are playing super loud music, and I have class early tomorrow. We share a wall [it's a duplex]. But, I've never met them, and I worry it'll be awkward if I knock on the door, introduce myself, and then ask them to turn it down. Can you ask your landlord to do something like that (I'd feel uncomfortable doing it myself)?
1 AnswerRenting & Real Estate7 years agoWhen to do something about neighbor's loud music?
3 AnswersEtiquette7 years agoNeighbors are playing loud music. Loud enough for me to knock on the door? (and if so, any advice on how to handle that situation)?
My neighbors (who I've yet to meet, they just moved in a few weeks ago) share a wall with me and I can hear they're music. It's 9:30 pm here, and I know it's a Friday night, but I've had a long week and I'm just trying to sit here and read my book. But, i can hear the bass from their music thumping loud enough that I can pick up on the rhythmic pattern. I can also hear the other louder electronic noises (I'm assuming they're listening to dubstep or something). It's not like I can hear the whole song, but I can definitely hear it and it's bothering me. What do you suppose I do? Say something? Or am I overreacting?
7 AnswersEtiquette7 years agoUnder my bottom lip is swollen on the left and right sides. Makes crease above chin really noticeable. What do I do?
So, I tried shaving with this shaving oil today. I've used it before, but not that often. I hadn't shaved in a while, so I was a bit scruffy. Anyway, I noticed that--an hour or so later--the area underneath my lip looked super puffy which made the line above the chin look really pronounced. Anyway, it wasn't an allergic reaction as much as it was irritation from not using enough oil/having a lot of scruff and shaving it with a razor. What do you recommend I do? It looks like I had an allergic reaction to shrimp!
