DNA Test Question...?
Please let me know if this sounds right.. A friend of mine (male) apparently has a child that lives in California. The mother of the child said that the child belongs to my friend. She sent an a home DNA test from California to New York and he sent back a sample to her and she sent a paper that said it was positive. My question is does that sound right to you? Also if she took him for child support would they have to repeat the test to prove the child is really his since his name is not on the birth certificate when she moves back to New York?

how do you know they really did legit tests? just because SHE said they did? I would have a lot of problems believing without seeing the samples taken from child and father , then handed off directly to a lab

The DNA test result will not hold up in court. It needs to be done in a legal manner where proof of identity is established. If he ever receives a request for support from any state, he should request a DNA test

No, that is not right and will not be acceptable in court. If he contests it, there will be a court ordered test. He could have sent someone else's DNA, or she could have faked the letter.
The name on the birth certificate doesn't matter, it is not a legal document when it comes to paternity.

your friend should send the DNA sample directly to the testing facility and get the response directly from them, not go through the woman. Easy to fake that she actually sent the sample and create her own letter of confirmation.

He voluntarily gave a DNA sample and it showed (that IS proof) the child is his he will be responsible for child support as soon as the mother applies for it, no matter where she lives.

So you are the new girl friend and you sure as hell don't want him paying support, right? Tough becaseu one way or the other if he is the daddy he will pay.
