Does Anyone know which book this is?

When I was a kid, my grandparents read me this book once.. I think it was a large yellow paperback.

I remember in the book it was about one of the world wars, the setting took place in the Netherlands I believe. I'll try to provide some specific details in hopes that someone will recognize one of them.

I remember specific details, like there was a friendly soldier who parachuted into a field and the dutch farmer hid him in the hay, and an enemy soldier was coming so the farmer chewed up a cigar that the soldier had on him to hide the evidence

Another detail would be when I think it was the teenage boy with his friends, they drove through a blockade I think and the kid driving passed out and they drove into the ditch. He awoke later in the hospital having been shot in the lung and I remember him thinking something along the lines of he was glad that it was a bullet because he thought he was a sissy and passing out for being scared or something.

Another detail would be when there were friendly soldiers on the roof and two kids had cork guns and were lifting a latch on the roof and shooting the cork gun and scaring the soldiers, but the kids were found out and got in trouble.

Another detail would be when a girl on a bike bringing her brother clothes (a fake soldier uniform I believe) and she was stopped by a soldier and she told him that she was just returning the clothes to her brother who was a soldier because she had gone to wash them because there was blood on it.

It would be the second world war. The Netherlands managed to remain neutral during the first.
