Should I stop putting Australian Lotto on?

As the title says, is it a good idea?

It s $25 a fortnight that I can t really afford, but the problem is I know my numbers off by heart, so if they did come up and I hadn t put it on, jumping off a cliff would look pleasing...

What are your opinions on this? Thanks

P.S. I ve reduced it down to the absolute minimum number of games, so I can t save anymore money there.

I bought my first lottery ticket out of my first pay packet when I was 15, I bought them every week, than lotto came in so I bought lotto tickets every week almost without fail...... i'm now 70 and the most I've won is $200, I can't imagine how much I've spent, it's an addiction..... stop now and don't look at any results than you will never know in the unlikely event that your numbers do come up..... I've now found out I didn't need to win any money to have what you want, I have all I need but I still buy them but now I hope to win not for myself but for my family.....

You are more likely to have a car accident and get struck by lightning while lying on the road on your way to buy the lottery ticket than you are to win the lottery. The odds against winning are so high that statistically you have the same chance of winning whether you buy a ticket or not.

Think about it. There are four lottery draws a week, including Powerball, that is 208 games a year. In 20 years that is 4160 lottery winners out of a population of 23million people. You are not going to win.

Buying a lottery ticket is buying a dream. You can think about what you will do with the winnings and plan some lovely and remarkable things but it is only a dream, it isn't going to happen. If you stop buying tickets, stop checking the numbers then you will never be disappointed.

Trying to get rich by winning the lotto is like trying to commit suicide by flying on commercial airlines.

Possible, but most likely a waste of money.

PS. Morphettville R5 tomorrow - Delicacy looks good value.

If its money that you cant really afford, then dont Do it! But if its something that you enjoy, look at what other things that you waste your money on like bought Coffee, parking fees, buying lunch etc that you could redirect into your simple pleasure.

Somebody does actually win, why not you? I spend $100 per month on Powerball, I dont drink bought coffee, I walk a little further every day from my parked car instead of going to the parking station at work, I take my lunch with me every day( its better food and I know who made it, Me)

Have you no will power? Although my sister won the Opera House lottery & my niece won $35,000 in lotto I don't kid myself I will ever win anything apart from the $50 I won last year. I have played lotto since then.

You are 900 times as likely to get murdered in Australia as you are to win the Lotto.

Looks to me like the Lotto is a tax on people who aren't very good at maths.

Are you buying tickets online or over the counter? Online you can buy less games and still be in the draw so it works out cheaper.

I agree it is a waste of money though.

    Do you enjoy it?

If so then keep playing. Better that than the pokies.

Ya gotta be in it to win it!
