While Federer has more overall wins than Nadal, Federer has been playing a few years longer. Given time and good health, Nadal could catch or even exceed Federer. Head-to-head, Nadal enjoys a 23-10 lead over Federer, as of May 9, 2015. So, right now, technically speaking, Federer is the better player, but Nadal has his "number"! ;)

It's a good question these days. Both careers have peaked, but Nadal seems to be in the doldrums right now. It probably depends on the venue and conditions, other things being unknown. Nadal has a clear edge on clay, historically. I think Nadal has more room to improve at this point. Federer seems to be playing very near the top of his game. Were they to play today on clay, I'd have to bet (a small amount only) on Nadal.

Nadal first has to equal or break 2 big Records held by Roger Federer only then we start to compare them. The first record is most majors Federer has17 Nadal has 14 currently. The 2nd record is most weeks as World no 1 Federer has been ranked no1 for 302 weeks Nadal only 141 weeks. Before he breaks or ties these records he isn't even close to Federer. How can you be ranked # 2 or below for most of your career and still be considered the GOAT? When someone else was # 1 for twice as long, It doesnt work that way. and seriously Nadal has won 70% of his majors and 75% on his titles on clay. Federer has dominated Grass and Hard court events and has been competitive on clay. Nadal also hasnt been good indoors and has no World Tour Finals title, Federer has 6 of those, this just shows that Nadal doesnt play well all year and Federer has the Stamina to play well even in the 3rd week of November consider this Tennis Season starts in January and Ends in Mid November thats 46 weeks And Federer at the height of his career started winning in January and didnt stop winning till mid November, where as most of Nadal's success came in the 2 month clay season. In my opinion Nadal is a one trick pony who gets injured for 6 months each year and has no variety style or elegance about his game. He also takes 30+ seconds between points just to catch his breath which is unfair, illegal and shouldn't be allowed

If you judge them on statistics it has to be federer but there's not much in it roger great on grass nadal great on clay in 2007 roger beat nadal at wimbledon then in 2008 nadal beat federer at wimbledon, but roger seems to be more resilient and less prone to injury then nadal despite he's age , so I go with roger

As they say in CSI, the evidence (or in this case, the stats) doesn't lie.

Right now, if not affected by injury, Nadal might threaten Federer. Might. Compare careers, no contest. Nadal isn't fit to tie Federer's laces.
