What does 'M/w CLBL' mean for financial bonds?
I know that "CLBL" means "callable," but, I'm stymied about "M/w"!
2 AnswersInvesting3 weeks agoWhy is there grease on my aluminum pans, which were stored in my oven and never used?
A year or so ago, I bought a set of disposable aluminum pans of various types and keep them in my clean, unused, oven, mostly one stack in and/or on top of each other, along with other pots and pans of various types (pyrex, copper, etc). In the rare instances that I use the oven, I remove the pans, putting them in a different room. After the cooking/baking is done and the oven has cooled off and been cleaned, I put the pans back in the stove. After months of non-use, I intended to bake in one of the pans, but, when I pulled out the cookware, I found that almost all the aluminum pans had a greasy feel on the inside, even those that were stacked under others. The only ones that escaped the odd grease were the ones at the very bottom. Because the disposable ware was cheap and corrugated, such that cleaning them didn't make sense, I tossed them into the metal recycling bin, and used my regular cookware. I never grease such pans in advance of use. I scanned the inside of the oven, thoroughly, expecting to see grease dripping down from somewhere, but, I couldn't find a drop, except on the pans! All seals are intact, so, nothing could have got in from the outside, and I almost never use spray oils on the stove, so, nothing could have got into or otherwise affected the interior of the oven. So, where did the grease come from?
2 AnswersOther - Food & Drink1 month agoWhat is the best Android GPS navigation app that lets you change the given route?
For example, if you drive from eastern Long Island, NY (say, Montauk Point), and select a westbound destination (say, Allentown, PA), most such apps take you through NYC (e.g., Midtown Tunnel, et al.) instead of the much easier and less busy (sometimes!) Southern State Pkwy and Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge, but, it won't let you change the route or add via points or anything along those lines.
2 AnswersOther - Electronics6 months agoTitle of old sci-fi book about black girl protagonist and helicopter?
Circa 1972, I read a science fiction novel in my junior high school (personal choice from its library; not assigned reading) about a dystopian future Earth, where blacks become the majority populace following a post-nuclear world. The story is told from the viewpoint of a teenaged black girl, who, through her travels, meets a white boy, and, together, they find a wrecked helicopter that, miraculously, runs, and, even more miraculously, if not preposterously, she manages to fly it! I can't remember the title or anything else about it, but, I'd love to read it, again. Any ideas?
Books & Authors9 months agoWhat were the hand gestures in 'Kelly Does Hollywood'?
In the TV sitcom, "Married with Children," Kelly Bundy gets her own cable TV talk show. When she and her female friends discuss certain things, they make a peculiar hand gesture, which Kelly referred to as a "get a yeast infection salute" (see photo), sort of like grabbing for or squeezing something. I have no idea to what it refers! Anyone know?

4 AnswersPolitics1 year agoWhy does my new laptop battery have flucuating mAh?
My recently installed, new, laptop, battery, instructed me to bring it down to 3-5% three times, in order to condition it. It is rated at 2,600 milliamp-hours (mAh). During the first two conditionings, if you will, it barely reached that level. After the recent, third, conditioning, it is reading over 3,000 mAh, according to BatteryInfoView, a freeware program. Then, after allowing it to recharge, it went down to 2,400. Why are there such differences between the mAh ratings?
2 AnswersLaptops & Notebooks1 year agoWhy did ancient Japanese write on paper walls and lanterns?
In this clip from the Japanese film, "Hidden Blade" (2004), you can see that there is writing on paper walls and the paper-wrapped lantern. Why did they do it, and what kinds of things were written? (I don't think you'll be able to read what's in the clip, so, don't worry about that; I'm just looking for generalizations) Thanks!
3 AnswersOther - Society & Culture2 years agoWhy can't U.S. Presidents use their own money?
Shortly after they take the White House, all (modern?) U.S. Presidents have their cash, credit cards, checks, etc., taken away (to be returned when they leave office, of course). Why is this done? (I know this lends itself to a lot of joke and trollish answers, so, please, don't respond, if you don't know the real reason) Thank you.
9 AnswersPolitics2 years agoWhat species are these Florida birds?
My sister snapped this pic of birds that were going through her Florida neighborhood (just west of Orlando) during the winter of 2018. I believe the two at the left are adults, while the rest are fledglings. I tried to find them on the web and in my print bird guides, but, only got matches/opinions based on shape (ibis or heron), not the colors, which don't seem to match any breed. Any help would be appreciated. It would be great, if you could include a link to a definitive web page with image and description. Thanks!
3 AnswersZoology2 years agoWhere, exactly, does my Oreck B-850-A exhaust filter go?
I am a handyman. My 30+ yr old Oreck's hand vac switch died. While taking it apart to bypass the switch (replacements are hard to find and expensive), the exhaust "filter" (see photo) came out. The problem is that I can't figure out where it goes, despite the diagram, which makes it seem to go between the motor and retaining gasket, but, both were fully intact, so it can't go there. It also appears that it might go somewhere in the back, where the exhaust comes out, but, it doesn't seem to fit anywhere, there, either. I contacted Oreck, but, they say they no longer carry information for that old machine, and nobody is around who knows anything about it (obsolescence; gotta luv it!). I scoured the net, but could only find the attached diagram. Does anyone know exactly where and how it goes? It works fine without being attached (the "front" foam filter is intact, so that has nothing to do with it). A photo showing where it goes and/or a highly detailed description would be appreciated. Thanks! (n.b., the attached diag is for the 870 model, but, it is, virtually, the same as my 850)
1 AnswerDo It Yourself (DIY)2 years agoDownloadable hospital diagnostic screen saver?
Is there a website where I can download a free, animated, desktop, screen saver, resembling an active hospital diagnostic screen (i.e., showing heart, pulse, respiratory functions, etc), similar to the one shown in the still image? Maybe even something with settings that can be modified by the user (e.g., show death or hyperactivity, etc)? If so, please give the link.
1 AnswerSoftware2 years agoString tension for carpal tunnel?
I am a 4.0 NTRP tennis player, who has carpal tunnel syndrome (dominant wrist) and mild rotator cuff (both shoulders), which has reduced my ability to serve and hit to a 3.5 level (i.e., I can't serve in the 90 mph range, anymore; closer to low 70s, and similar across my hitting ability).
Assuming I currently use the average string tension printed on my racquet, should I use a higher (control) or lower (power) string tension to reduce the probability of any pain?
I'm not asking for exercises or medical advice; just opinions on the string tension issue. If you have a web reference, then, please, include that.
Thanks.

2 AnswersSkin Conditions2 years agoWide-ranging IP-city results?
I use IP-city websites to tell me where my friends are communicating from via e-mail (some e-mail services give you the IP address in the e-mail). Usually, they are fairly consistent, with only minor discrepencies (i.e., they might show a specific town or the closest major city). After getting an IP that indicated only a certain foreign nation (no city), I looked it up on a number of different IP-city-finder websites, and was stunned at the wide variety of results I got: Two countries; five different cities! I stopped after seeing the variety. Why aren't the results consistent?

I saw a woman in NYC walking with a 'Free Elmo' t-shirt (not the one pictured, but, same concept). I thought to ask her about it, but, figured I might get a faceful of pepper spray, so, I didn't! ;) To what does 'Free Elmo' refer?
2 AnswersPolls & Surveys2 years agoHow can I read a .atom file offline?
Google+ is eliminating some of its features, and is giving users a chance to archive their data until March 31, 2019. I did so, but, the downloaded .zip file contains .atom files, which, basically, are .xml, files. I tried openning them in my browsers, but, it shows the XML layout/tags along with the plain-text content; though I can see the plain-text, I don't want to see the XML. I searched the web and browser extensions for something that can read .atom (or .xml) files and display them without the XML layout/tags, but, none do what I want, which, to me, at least, seems awful simple! All .atom readers that I've found require logins or access to RSS feeds, which I don't want or need. Google gives no information about .atom files in its links/pages for the Google+ removal/archive; it doesn't even mention the fact, which will cause chaos among non-computer people who want to see their useless (to them) downloaded archived info.
All I want is to read the .atom files offline, in plain-text, formatted without XML, so that a human being can read it without having to figure out what's what. If there is such a thing, please give me the link.
P.S. I'm a computer programmer and webmaster, who can, probably, write a simple program to do what I want, but, I'm lazy, and figure somebody else has already done the grunt work. I can't believe I'm the only person who wants something like this!
