Help with Nissan?
. I just bought a used car and I have a problem with it that the dealer will not fix. Its a 2000 Nissan Maxima with the 3.0L engine and a 5-speed manual trans.
The problem I am having is that when I come up to a red light or a stop sign and put the clutch in- the engine will dip below the normal idle speed (about 650 rpm) and (usually) stall out. I've done some research on it and found out that it could be a couple things like the iacv or maybe a bad MAF. The thing that's getting me is that there are no codes in the system at all.
I guess if I'm going to start replacing parts not knowing what the problem is- I thought maybe I could get advice from you.
Thanks for any help

Clean the MAF first, then have the dealer run CONSULT on it to match up the ECM with the MAF properties. (You'd have to do this anyway if you changed out the MAF.)

get rid of it. Nissan has had problems starting in the late 90's with idling problems in its vehicles. You can replace all kinds of things and it probably isn't going to fix it. I had a 95 Nissan pick up that was brand new and had it in the dealer 18 times in the first year for idling problems. They 'fixed' it each time. I finally traded it in on a different vehicle.
