A 10 year old child who doesn't talk?What to do ?
My 10 year old brother doesn't talk, he just makes sounds like a toddler. Sometimes he says one or two words that we taught him but that's about it. he acts normal and everything but how do we make him talk?Everytime we try to teach him sentences he doesn't want to repeat them or if he does he does it fast and wrong so we could stop bothering him. Is there any proffesional help i could get? Im tired of babysitting him when i could be doing better things or hanging out outside or something

At his age it is possible (and even quite likely) he has a speech disorder (apraxia possibly). He should be evaluated by a doctor and then referred to a speech therapist for an evaluation. Another possibility is something like down syndrome as being the culprit. Sign language might be a good alternative for him; often people who can't verbalize can use sign language to communicate. You could try a few simple signs (the internet has websites that teach a few signs).

I would give him a mobile phone with your number on and leave the room! Sometimes children have certain disorders where they want to speak but are too nervous to do so
