Rap & Hip Hop: What are your feelings on 3rd Bass (BQs too yo)?

The Cactus Face is a classic; 3rd Bass is one of a myriad of groups to push the bounds of production in the late 80's but sometimes I find them somewhat cringey. For their time their social awareness was qutie precocious, but their incessant shitting on symbols of hip hop authenticity (more specifically MC Hammer in The Cactus Album and Vanilla Ice in Derelicts of Dialect) seems more revealing of insecurity than anything.

BQ2: What do you think is Edan's best album?

I used to listen to them a lot when I was going through my 1980's hip hop phase like two years ago lol. But now, I cringe when I listen to them because they sound so outdated and kind of corny at times. Unless I go into another 80's phase, I don't think I'll ever be a big fan of them. But for their time they were pretty good.

    BQ1: Never listened

BQ2: Beauty and the Beat by far. I can't really get into him that much and that is the only album I really enjoy by him.

BQ3: Machine Gun Kelly's ***** a$$ is by far the most clueless rapper. I ******* hate that piece of ****.

    BQ4: Connecticut unfortunately :/

They are not my thing they always sounded too corny for me. But they were good. I never really sat down and listened to their stuff from beginning to end.

    BQ1: I don't know what that is.

BQ2: Beauty And The Beat because it's basically the only album I have listened the whole thing. I never listened to Primitive Plus tbh. And none of his mixtapes (I guess he has some)...

BQ3: MGK as everyone said already for obvious reasons.

    BQ4: Liverpool, England

  • Not anything I was a fan of. I remember trying them a little while back and couldn't get into 'em. Someone on here recommended "Pop Goes the Weasel" to me around the time I first joined Y!A and called it one of the best songs ever - I didn't think so. I gave a few other songs a chance but nothing stuck out for me.

BQ: Had to look that one up - haven't heard.

BQ2: Beauty and the Beat. Is Edan still making music?

BQ3: Depends on what you mean by clueless, but I'd say MGK.

    BQ4: Queens, New York

Not a huge fan and never really was. I mean to their credit they were nice considering the era of Hip Hop they were in but like you said, and I couldn't have said it better..They were "cringey" to me lol. Too dated and kinda corny for me..I have no problem with them shitting on the 'artists', I use the term loosely..You mentioned, Ice especially was super wack..So I actually respect them for dissing them.

BQ1: You got me there..Haven't heard it, should I even attempt to listen lol?

BQ2: Beauty And The Beat is the only one I've heard honestly.

BQ3: Lets see...None of the underground rappers like Diabolic, Aesop or Rugged for sure..

    Eminem ain't clueless

    Yelawolf is very intelligent

    Rittz is chill as fu**

    Action Bronson is chill

I think MGK is the obvious answer..He thinks he's some type of Hip Hop god, I seen dude in interviews talking about he one of the best, has great lyrics (ha), his concerts are so

Source(s): great and his songs is very "meaningful"..Dude is full of himself and full of shit. BQ4: Tulsa, Oklahoma
