Leonidas showed the true attribute of a leader when he sacrificed himself alongside his soldiers. According to some sources, he received word from the Oracle that the king had to die for peace to arrive. He acknowledged the dedication he needed to give to the city state and went into battle against the Persians. He truly did what he believed and what he knew was necessary.
