Big snakes?
My mom keeps leaning toward getting a Burmese python or other large snake. I tried to tell her they get large need a large cage and large food. She was like yeah we could remodel the coffee table and feed it rats. I don't know what to do. We already have a corn snake and two ball pythons. I don't know how to detur her away from a 15+foot long snake?!? Any help?

Nothing wrong with big snakes. But unless her coffee table is around 8ft x 4ft (minimum) it will not be big enough for an adult. And is she prepared for what an adult is fed? Rats are fine until they get too large for rats then it usually goes to chickens or rabbits. And they aren't just long they are extremely heavy sometimes exceeding 200 lbs.
But if she thinks she can handle and properly care for a snake that has the potential to get that large then I don't see a reason to discourage her.
I have a friend with an adult female who is 19ft and 216 lbs. She is one of my favorite snakes (aside from my own) and I regularly use her for educational purposes at school.

What is wrong with getting a large snake? So what if they need bigger things? I think it is great that your mom has started out with smaller snakes and if she is capable for providing for the snake, she should get one if she pleases.

Show her websites outlining the care. If she still wants one, make sure you get it fast because of the new burm/retic python law about crossing state borders (assuming you are in the USA).
