Did Floyd really leave a lasting impression on this fight?

He did great, but at the same time he still gets hate. Did this cemented his legacy, or is it just another footnote in boxing history.

I know people are saying casuals will leave this forum. I really don't think so, we are going to see a constant barrage of hate towards Mayweather..

There will really nothing memorable about this fight other than Mayweather winning..What does Mayweather need to do to gain respect, not just from boxing fans but also from the general public.

I don't think that the fight made any new boxing fans. Floyd fought a technically good fight and did what he needed to do to win. Those of us who like the technical skill can appreciate that. He is a good businessman and made money for himself, Pacquiao, and the big wigs. He will be remembered as one of the great defensive wizards of the game, but none of his fights, except maybe the Corrales fight, stands up among the great fights in history. Prior to the fight the comparison was made to Hagler-Hearns. In that fight you had two of the dominant forces in boxing facing each other in their glory. You had two fighters who knew that they were going to go at it. That is why that fight is still considered the best fight, or at least one of them. May-Pac will be discussed in history, but only because of the price tag.

I think that Mayweather did what he needed to do for his career. If he had been the seemingly decent person he began his career as, he would never have made the money that he has. However, his pursuit of "selling tickets" will cause damage to his overall legacy. While his skill cannot be denied, his achievements will not be given the consideration of other greats in the game. He will never have the significance of an Ali, a Johnson, or a Joe Louis. As his career winds down, I think that he will find that his influence on the sport will wane, and I think that it will crush him.

He fought a perfect fight, but underwhelming victory. I wouldn't even be surprised if he retired undefeated. He is a safety first fighter and also very clever for picking fights at the right time. But thats his style, no one can beat him, in this era anyways. I'm just glad i finally saw this fight i've been waiting for 5 years, too bad it was overhyped.

I would like to know what binder of women Floyd has hit. And I say that most men have hit a woman before and if they say they havent they lie like cheap Oriental rugs. Its apparent some dont like Mayweather and thats all well and good, but dont sit up and pretend that is why you hate him because he struck a woman. Im sure women have hit him too. All this nobility is choking me.

People hate Floyd Mayweather because he beat up various women, there is nothing he could ever do to gain their respect.

people hate Floyd because he is the best ever, he is rich, obnoxious, and more importantly black. Give this man credit.. He has been ruling over boxing for decades.
