Does the Service deparment's repair diagnosis of my car make sense?

I have a 2010 dodge journey. I purchased new. These cars are notorious for electrical issues. My radio was not working and I took it in to the dealer, they said I will need a whole new radio. I cant afford to repair now so I took it home.

The next morning the car is completely dead, no power,no lights nothing, basically a big metal box.

I have it towed to dealer. They tell me battery was drained, and that they did not know why until an instrument told them dome light had been left on.

I got home at 7pm the night before and walked the dog at 9:30 p.m. The light was not on. Does this make any sense? The battery is a year and a half old. This car is notorious for electrical problems.

I think when they looked at radio they did something and didn't want to tell me. I tell them I know for sure light wasn't on and they refuse to say anything.

If you dont like what they did, change dealerships. Also, just to set a few people's mind at ease. We do not try to screw up your car. Most of us dealership techs cant stand working on some of the crap people bring in. I have enough work to do & better things to do than tamper with some clowns car so they bring it back which makes me look bad PERIOD!!!!!!! The only time I want to see someone bring back their car to me is for something I recommended like a service or repair they declined earlier

Crap happens, it if has electrical issues, I would think this would be an electrical issue which wouldnt be their fault. I inspect cars & sometimes there are no clue clues what caused a problem. If its a battery drain, the most choices we pick are you left the lights on, you left something plugged in or other. Since warranty doesnt pay crap & I dont like working for free, I usually wont do a parasitic drain test unless you brought it back a second time for a dead battery issue

But luckily for me, I got tired of working on crappy Cadillacs & working for free. So now I no longer work for the dealership since I do like to eat occassionally & dealership work doesnt pay

But electrical issues are always a problem on any carline. Anything not powering down like a module will drain the battery. Sometimes it isnt that easy to pinpoint what caused it if its not present at the time they look at it. You just dont plug in a scan tool & it tells you what to replace. It isnt that easy

They probably turned the light on to help illuminate the interior while they were looking at the radio and forgot to turn it back to where the light automatically goes out.
