Neighbor Throwing Cuttings Into My Yard?

For some reason best known to himself my neighbor has started acting strangely with me - the latest behavior is that he is trimming branches off any tree or bush that overhangs his property and then throwing them into my yard. The problem is that some of the cuttings have gone into my A/C unit which was running at the time and is now making grinding noises.

His odd behavior aside, I have heard that it is the "legal" thing to do to throw branches back over the fence but this sounds like something bound to cause trouble - anyone know if this is appropriate and legal behavior. Oh, I live in Phoenix, Az.

Any vegetation that grows from your yard and overhangs into his is your responsibility. He is within every right to cut them back and return them to you. He shouldn't just throw them over the fence though, he may unknowingly damage property of yours.

Drop by and spark up a friendly chat before it gets out of hand. There may be an underlying grievance that you two can sort out mutually. If he's going to be a dick, just be sure to maintain your vegetation to avoid appearing on "Neighbors from Hell."

    Good luck.

Here at least, and doubtless where you are, he is entitled to have branches overhanging his property removed, either by asking you to do it or by removing them himself and "offering the cuttings back" to you.

I know that some obnoxious people take it too far and throw the stuff over the fence. If he has damaged your property in doing so he is responsible.

Just do it, my neighbors have a problem with me for some reason, and everyone in the estate says that they are horrible people. One time they got back and found an injured bird that their cat had attacked in their garden and I heard one of the little brats say "throw it over next doors garden", the next morning the dead bird was on my path, I just dumped it back over their fence and they haven't done anything since. If he dumped something on your property I'd post it through his door.
