I just got my license today but I'm really panicky about driving alone !?!?

what's worse I'm 20, I'm not a teenager or anything.. I feel so sensitive and weird..

I've had panic attacks since I was 16, I haven't had one in a long time, (just adding that I deal with anxiety) I feel unsure of myself with this.. even though people have told me I'm a good driver...I feel like I'll get out there and feel panicky and alone loose control!! I have to get over this everyone at my job drives.. and has a car.. I have to be normal enough to drive to work like everyone else lol help?!?!?

    There's no such thing as "normal." Stop labeling yourself. I know several adults who don't drive due to some disability. One person has seizures - so she can't drive.

    She takes the bus or her boyfriend drops her off.

    That is nothing to be ashamed of.

    Better than forcing yourself to get out there and getting into an accident.

    Get some treatment for your anxiety - on going treatment. And also for your fear of driving.

    Practice driving in a parking lot or go out with someone next to you. Practice driving when there is little traffic out there.

    Turn off music and phone. Leave window down if you have to, that way you feel more aware.

    Just drive defensively. Go slow and be very careful. How long is your drive to work ?

    Rush hour driving is crazy and anxious for anyone. You have to be really careful.

    You can also take driving lessons - look them up on the internet. Let them know you have a fear of driving and they will teach you some safe techniques.

    I also had a fear of driving and guess what , I got into an accident making a left turn.

    So it is better to not get out there until you feel confident. You always need to drive conservatively. Make conservative decisions. Don't try to run a light , race someone etc.

    It is ok. A lot of people don't drive. You are not alone.

    Also make sure your car is in good condition, oil changed, tire pressure good, windshield washer fluid topped off etc. , gas is full , etc.

    Transition into driving by yourself really slowly. Start by just going around the neighborhood. Then go a littler further each time. Always stay in the right lane so you can pull over if you start feeling panicky. Don't go on busy roads or the highway until you feel confident enough to do it. And try to go the first few times when traffic is low. Like early in the morning or late at night.

    Take someone when you going for drive.. Just make you mind calm sit for 2 minutes in the car drive slow when you get used to it.. Then you can drive alone

    It doesnt matter if you have anxiety

    driving is really easy

    see look you got your license stop overexaggerating youll be fine i promise :)
