    Dumb down to powers of 3

    3*(3^3)^(x - 1) = (3^2)^(2x + 1)

    Fix so that everything but 3's are in the exponent

    3*3^(3x - 3) = 3^(4x + 2)

    3^(3x - 3 + 1) = 3^(4x + 2)

    3x - 3 + 1 = 4x + 2

    x = -4

    Take the ln of both sides and solve the equation you get.
