Extreme pain in hip/groin only when sitting?

For about 5 months I've been having pain in my right hip I'm 27 years old. I don't do any extreme physical activities ever. I don't know what could've cost this. Driving is the most painful, if I'm in the car for more then 15 minutes I start getting sharp stabbing pain in my right hip. Also sitting at the kitchen table chair or computer chair. I can stand and walk all day and not feel it but when sitting or laying on my right side it's excruciating. Then I'm soar for an hour or so after standing. But the pain slowly subsides after standing. I also get a loud snapping sound in my hip several times a day. What is going on?!?

Pain like this can be entirely psycho-somatic. It REALLY hurts, but it has no physical cause. It's actually quite common - and when people learn about this, it will often just drive off the pain.

It's a trick of your unconscious mind - something there to distract your attention from something else.

Anyway - that's one avenue of research. The go-to guy on this is Dr. Sarno - "Divided Mind". It's on Amazon books. He's written several others as well.

There's AMAZING numbers of people living with horrible, chronic, intractable pain. Some of them go to doctors and get hooked on pain pills or get needless operations. Some people go find other placebo treatments like acupuncture or chiropractic.

And given these various placebo treatments, sometimes they really do WORK - and the pain just goes away - it's a Miracle. Anyway, Dr. Sarno can explain how those sort of "Miracles" work within the Mind-Body.

From your description, you have a classical case of this. Psycho-somatic pain is often exaggerated pain - it's worse than if you actually had something wrong with you. And the really good news is............ you very probably have nothing wrong with you at all.
