Is it a good idea for Wladimir Klitschko to give Shannon Briggs a title shot?

Lets see now, what will Wladimir get if he does give Shannon Briggs a title shot and beats him a lot worse than his brother did?

Surely he will not get any respect. In fact, he will only receive more backlash from critics for fighting a scrub just because he acted so desperate for attention. Briggs has no belt right now. He is hardly considered an elite during his prime. He did pathetic against vitali. Even with one arm, you'd expect an elite boxer to fight defensively and not just eat shots. He ended up in the hospital for 2 weeks. Briggs has hardly fought anyone who deserves to be called a pro Athlete in his last 7 fights. Briggs is not even ranked at the top

Wlad will not get good money either. Briggs has been fighting in parking lot venues, or some shitty halls where old people play bingo. Its audacious he calls himself the people's champ when he can't even fill such a small venue with people willing to see him fight. And his oppositions are bums who climbed up in that ring for a free sandwich.

So, no money, no respect, just what will Wlad get out of this? How will this benefit the sport? Don't even start with "oh but we need villains because they are entertaining". Briggs is hardly entertaining in the ring. I mean is this what is to become of boxing? A carnival circus act? Where any scrubs can easily get a title shot simply by trolling the heavyweight champ?

Also, don't you feel how pathetic Briggs is? This is all just screaming desperation for a paycheck.

Wladimir should not fight Briggs because he won't get any credit. He is 43 years old and washed up. His mouth is better than his talent these days. He would get destroyed in 5 rounds or less, and everyone know that will happen. It would be wolf tickets, if that's the word for it!

People would not respect him for beating up an old man, that's not even in the top 10 in his weight class. The Heavyweight champ should give people a shot that earned it instead of talking their way into one. At least, that is what I would like to see take place.

He should focus his attention on Wilder and Tyson Fury. He should go after the WBC belt that his brother Vitali vacated, then he should beat the loud mouth Fury. Now that would get him respect because he's fighting the best in his division. And he will be the undisputed/unified champ.

There's nothing in it for Klitschko but you'd have to go back to when he beat David Haye in order to see him get credit for a win, or perhaps Povetkin (personally I thought that was a dangerous fight for Klitschko going in) if you look at who he's been bashing up since then I don't see why he shouldn't add a former world champion to the list. He's quite entitled to make some routine voluntary defences of the title whilst he waits for Wilder so I don't see why not.

And it will sell if Klitschko goes to the US again, Briggs and HBO will promote it well. I remember when Bruno rematched Tyson, I actually believed Bruno was going to do the job because of the promotional work he did with Sky Sports, it was superb

    That would be disgusting.

Briggs stays active, fighting your neighbor or your local bartender, and knocks them out in one or two rounds.

Doesn't matter, he still sucks. Wlad would slaughter him, if that fight happen I lose all respect for the people involved. Briggs is just a desperate, sad man at this point.

For a showcase fight sure. But Briggs doesn't deserve a title shot at all.

Whladimir should be fighting Fury, Wilder, and then probably Joshua.

Briggs should fight Tarver, or James Toney.

No.................Briggs doesn't deserve to even be in the top 10 of the division.
