  • Is it a good idea for Wladimir Klitschko to give Shannon Briggs a title shot?

Lets see now, what will Wladimir get if he does give Shannon Briggs a title shot and beats him a lot worse than his brother did?

Surely he will not get any respect. In fact, he will only receive more backlash from critics for fighting a scrub just because he acted so desperate for attention. Briggs has no belt right now. He is hardly considered an elite during his prime. He did pathetic against vitali. Even with one arm, you'd expect an elite boxer to fight defensively and not just eat shots. He ended up in the hospital for 2 weeks. Briggs has hardly fought anyone who deserves to be called a pro Athlete in his last 7 fights. Briggs is not even ranked at the top

Wlad will not get good money either. Briggs has been fighting in parking lot venues, or some shitty halls where old people play bingo. Its audacious he calls himself the people's champ when he can't even fill such a small venue with people willing to see him fight. And his oppositions are bums who climbed up in that ring for a free sandwich.

So, no money, no respect, just what will Wlad get out of this? How will this benefit the sport? Don't even start with "oh but we need villains because they are entertaining". Briggs is hardly entertaining in the ring. I mean is this what is to become of boxing? A carnival circus act? Where any scrubs can easily get a title shot simply by trolling the heavyweight champ?

Also, don't you feel how pathetic Briggs is? This is all just screaming desperation for a paycheck.

  • Who should be boxing's new hero and new villain?

Let's face it, Pacquiao is this generations best boxing hero. Humble, soft-spoken, and a typical-rags-to-riches story. Opposing him is this generations best Villain, Mayweather. Flamboyant trash-talker who seem to be all about the money. But I believe its time to end the Mayweather Pacquiao era. If the sport is gonna survive it needs a new hero and villain to follow.

    So who should it be?

    Criteria for a good hero.

    1. Must have crowd pleasing style

    2. Must be reasonably good-looking (come on guys, this is why dela hoya became so popular)

    3. Must have a classy demeanor

    4. A lil cinderella background story can help

    Criteria for good villain.

    1. Must have a crowd pleasing style also

    2. Must be dangerous in the ring

    3. Must be more intimidating than irritating. (Mike tyson anyone?)

    My picks

    Hero

    Andre Ward

    Canelo Alvarez

    Villain (Potentially at least)

    Golovkin

    Stevenson

  • Do you think the Klitschkos would have been appreciated more if they were American?

I think these two are highly unappreciated by the biased American media and fanbase. Dont even start with the issue of lack of competitive opponents. Tyson was fighting a lot of tomatos but was still earning huge PPV money. I dont get it? Is it because they are white, cultured, and educated?

I mean, anybody who knows boxing can see that these two got skills. Why blame them for the lack of excitement in the Division? They take on anyone who is willing to jump in the ring with them.

Now that Vitali has retired, and Wlad has the chance to be Undisputed Champion, I bet Wlad will still not be given the credit he deserves

  • Do you think Shannon Briggs is good for the heavyweight boxing division?

Personally, I think he is an embarrassment and a joke. He represents something really wrong about the sport. He is entertaining not because of the way he fights but with his antics. He has been Stalking Wlad all over, talking a lot of ****, when all it really translate too is he is a broke ****** desperate for a money fight.

Oh dont get me wrong please, I understand that hype is important to generate interest. And sure guys like B-hop and Floyd wanna talk a lot of trash. But at least they put the money where their mouth is, and earn their paycheck. Shannon is that dog who likes to bark a lot but cant really bite. He talked a lot of trash too when he fought Vitali, but he looked really pathetic during the fight. He couldnt even hit Vitali back, and he nearly got killed.

What has Shannon done lately to prove he is a contender? Oh lets see, he has been fighting guys that are so fat, he does not even need to throw one puch to KO them. All he needs is make them chase him around the ring till they gas out before the bell in round 1 ends. And now he deserves a crack at Wlad?

I am saying this is not helping the division at all. We need competetive fights, not trash talkers who cant even put the money where their mouth is. Next thing we know, you dont need to fight your way upto contention. You only need to talk endless trash to get a fight

  • better be miserable than move on and be happy with someone else?

to anyone willing to waste a little time to read this. Let me know what you think. This is what Id say to my girl who left me.

Id rather be miserable like this. Than move one without you. If its the only way youd believe that I love you this much. Im willing to suffer for the rest of my life for losing you. After all its all my fault. And I will keep my promise that I could never love anyone else as much as I love you. It hurts you You wont believe me. But its my fault. Id rather be miserable with the chance I blew with you. Than even think it was all for the best. And I couldnt find someone better than you. Because after all is said and done. If I ever find someone who knocks on my heart. Ill only try to lie to myself that she is you. And when I find out she is not you. Id only end up hurting her. I failed you I know. But its better to keep loving you like this. Than lie for the rest of my life that someone else could even come close to you. I love you that much. come home please. lets work it out. I love you.

  • Help please, I cant stop punishing myself?

I lost someone and its my fault. I cant get to forgive myself. I just thought that I am being like this because I lost her, but I realize its because I cant forgive myself for what happened. There is no way I could reach her. Even if I had, she wont talk to me. And she does not know how much I am miserable. All because I love her too much to feel guilty about me.

And the only salvation I find is a bottle of whiskey. A few shots just to temporarily suspend this pain and sorrow. To buy me a few hours of sleep at least. This is all that I have. Talking as well about it helps distract my attention. Between that, there isnt anything much.

I love her so much. And Im at a point where Id rather be miserable like this, if its what brings her closer to my heart though it hurts so bad, than to move on and lie to myself. At least this way, I get to prove what she refuses to believe. That I will never love anyone like this, nor will hurt for anyone else like this.

I just pray that whatever pain I really caused her, that god would just give it all to me. After all I am the one who screwed up. God I just want to make her happy again.

Other than that, I keep craving for that sweet taste of relief I find in a bottle of Jack Daniel's. Its all I got to help me get through the night.

  • How do you make someone hurt listen to you?

I lost someone dear to me recently. Dont worry, Im not asking you to take my side. If you wanna be angry at me, its alright I cant forgive myself either. Its not just because I want her back that I want her to listen. Its not even because I wanna rid myself of this pain. What I feel, what I am going through, is only right. Im the one who lied to her. And one lie! That one small lie, can bend every other truth. Truth that I want her to see. But I dont blame her, she is too hurt to even open her mind up if not her heart and I am afraid that she will never ever open her mind again.

And no! Its not because I wanna absolve myself from this pain. Its more of I just wanna undo the hurt I caused her. I want her to just be happy again. That matters more to me. More than anything. Way more than I wanna feel better about myself. I love her that much.

So much, I will pretend that I am going on with my life. She does not need to know that I cant even sleep without being drunk. I dont want her to be guilty for me. I dont want her to take me back because of that.

If ever there will be one reason Id like for her to come back, its that I can still make her happy. Its all I ever cared about. Then, now, even when I did what I should not have.

  • I cant forgive myself, please help?

I lost her. Its my fault. And I got nothing left now. Except this guilt and pain that I caused us. Talking about it to anyone who would remotely listen helps. Its alright, I dont ask anyone to take my side. I cant forgive myself either.

The funny thing is, I hate the pain, yet I love it. Because the more it hurts, the more I realize how much I love her. Now that there is this huge space between me and her, Its the only way I can ever be close to her. This sorrow that keeps growing, that wont let me eat sleep or even stop me for a while from being this pathetic. This is all I have to be close to her as much as I can. Because after all thats said and done. I feel like its better to be miserable like this. Than to move on for my own good. At least that way, I get to prove to her or myself. That I didnt lie about anything. That I would never love like this again.

  • How do you keep moving on, when you dont feel alive at all?

I recently loss someone. Im not really asking for anyone to take my side. Its my fault I lost her. I cant blame myself enough for it. Fact is, I wont even take my own side. Because I just blew it that bad. I wished though she listened to me first, hear my side of the story before she made conclusions. Opened her mind up if not her heart. There is so much truth she does not know, but what does it matter. She wont come back to me. Nothing I can do will bring her back to me.

So this is all I really have. Talking. Helps ease the pain a bit. Hoping someone would listen. Because I dont think even god is listening to me. Like he is too busy. This is all I have now. And that bottle of whiskey I take every night till I am wasted. Just so for a while, I can ease the pain and sleep. But I have to wake up, sober, and aware. Its the worst part. I dont know how much more of this I can take till it takes a toll. But hey, when and if it does, it will be over right.

You understand where I am coming from, when you find that one person who completes you. Who gives you this purpose of making sure she is happy everyday. And now its gone, I cant bring it back. all I have is this

I am so dead inside. Like I dont have a soul anymore. Im just existing, waking up, breathing, but not living.

  • Did the Philippine Media spoil Manny too much?

Ok I am filipino, so obviously this question is for Filipinos

Manny Pacquiao is the greatest sports hero the Philippines had. I find nothing wrong of a country hailing its prized champion. Roberto Duran at a time was Panamas greatest hero.

But in my opinion the media as well as some Filipinos bloated his accomplishment way out of proportion. At the time, the universe of the entire Philippines revolved around manny Pacquiao. Everything in the philippines that was worth showing for had to do with Manny Pacquiao. Then the media kept promoting Filipino-Pride out of his name, and thats when Manny and the entire country behind him started getting cocky. It was as if Filipinos believe that they are the greatest race in the world and they are invincible because of him.

Because Pacquiao was such a darling of the Philippine media, he started engaging on a lot of other BS he wasnt even supposed to. I cant even understand why people would applaud his singing when it is just painful to the ears. I know Dela Hoya did this during his prime, but at least he had the looks of a popstar and he could sing decently. The media would not even leave manny alone when in training. I dont just mean them covering his training diary, he also had to do TV guestings and host a game show in between the punching mitts. WTF?

I really thought that the media should have been more critical with him. I believe that the media contributed hugely to Mannys hubris. Had people been more critical of his god-awful singing voice, had someon called him ugly, maybe he would have focused more on what he does best

  • Who are the most undisciplined elite fighters in the history of boxing?

Lets be specific. We are only talking about Elite fighters. Stars! Top Dogs. Whatever you wanna call it. THere is no point including nobodies in the list. Fighters that could have prolonged their prime a bit longer had they lived a more disciplined lifestyle

Duran- Overeats a lot in between fights. I still think he would have kicked Leonards *** in the second fight had he not partied like a rockstar after that fight.

RJJ- Started rapping and acting when he became a superstar. Got too comfortable with his skills at the time he was fighting bums.

Ricky Hatton- gets really bloated up when not in training

Mike Tyson- well you all know the story

    Who else?

    4 AnswersBoxing9 years ago
  • Who are the most disciplined fighters in the sport?

Just because everyone wants to talk about how Mannys distractions contributed to his decline, lets review who are the most disciplined fighters that prolonged their prime and elite status trough a very disciplined lifestyle inside and outside of the ring.

Here are some that come into mind

Hopkins- No champagne, No new years eve, same diet when not in training, if his steak was marinated with red wine, hed go to the kitchen to ask the chef not to put a drop of alcohol in his meat.

Hagler- goes into isolation to be prepared mentally and physically when in training. If 24/7 was created in his time, I bet hed tell HBO to fudge off. Even called his training camp "jail".

Marquez- Obviously he dreamt slept and ate Pacquiao. He chased him across divisions and press conferences. Im amazed how he was able to gain more muscle at his age and at this stage of his career.

    Anyway name some

  • QIAGEN Gel Extraction problem?

Hello I am trying to perform molecular cloning. Problem is, I am getting few colonies on my LB plate (I am using XL 1 competent cells). I thought that my main problem is that my DNA yield prior to ligation and transformation steps is too low (> 1 ng/ul). I measure DNA concentration using nanodrop after each step. After the first PCR reaction my DNA yield is around 500ng/ul. But after agarose electrophoresis and gel extraction I get only about 3 ng/ul DNA at most. I am Using QIAGEN extraction kit. I am following the instructions closely. I also perform ETOH precipitation of my DNA after PCR and after Gel Extraction. What could be the problem? Any advice or tips to improve my DNA yield using this extraction kit? Any help will be appreciated

    thank you

  • What did you think of Floyd's appeal to be out of jail because he is physically deteriorating doing time?

If my understanding is correct, wasnt he given a lighter sentence and even postponed serving it to be able to fight Miguel Cotto? How many of us mere mortals can enjoy such leniency after you beat up your girlfriend in front of your kids?

Personally I believe in dont do a crime if you cant do the time. And is his condition really that much of an "emergency"? Havent we seen other boxers who had to do a little time in the slammer but still were able to fight when they got out? B-hop honed his boxing skills in the slammer.

I really dont understand why he deserves such special treatment. Isnt he supposed to have this warrior mentality who is used to facing hardships? For crying out loud, his jail cell is the Taj Majal compared to the jail cells in third world countries.

BQ: How tough would Floyd look when he is allowed to mingle with the general population of the jail he is in?

  • What is it gonna take for Roy Jones Jr. to understand that he is done?

I know not too many of you gave a rats @zz about the legendary RJJ fighting this week. Watching the replay I was like oh daaaaaaammmmn. Where din RJJ train? burger king or something? And this guy he was fighting? He looked like some bouncer in a tittie bar who had too much beer to drink. It was really pathetic. The fight itself? Much more! It was nothing reminiscent of the RJJ we knew. Not even close to the RJJ we saw lose to calzaghe and I dont mean that in a good way. This was a fight youd wanna see in a parking lot of a bar or something.

After the fight he said he wanted a world title at cruiser weight. Is he serious? Just what in his performance thinks that he is a world title contender? I mean I will not pay to see him fight the way he is now period. And I was even shocked to find out that he fought a guy who hasnt won any of his last 6 fights

This is really embarrassing. No great champion should ever take a fight like this. Its just pathetic. Just what is it gonna take for RJJ to hang it up? Is he waiting to die in the ring or something?

  • How can some people even discredit Miguel Cotto but praise Sergio Martinez too much at the same time?

I think both fighters are great. But I cant believe how some people would unfairly downplay Miguel Cottos recent victory even his entire career though we saw him put on the best performance of his career last saturday. People say he is shot, that he doesnt fight good opposition, and beat Margarito because he too was shot. But at the same time here we are praising a guy like Sergio Martinez too much whose only significant Victory was against Paul Williams who already beat him, and a fading Kelly Pavlik.

Seriously, comparing the resume of the 2, Miguel Cotto has fought better opposition and champions troughout his Career. Some of them are future hall of fame inductees. Sergio Martinez on the other hand is ranked 3rd due to his crowd pleasing style, but come on! He has only Pavlik and Williams on his resume. And what irritates me the most about Martinez is he wants to challenge guys smaller than him (Pacquiao Mayweather) just because they pour in the money, instead of going up in weight so he could test his skills against Ward, Abraham, or Bute

    5 AnswersBoxing10 years ago
  • So do you still think that Cotto is damaged goods?

That is the argument that surfaced after he was defeated by Margaputo. That he wasnt the same anymore, that he was done. Especially on how he narrowly escaped a decision win against Clottey, and how Pacquiao battered him for 12 rounds.

But seeing him last night, I thought "Oh wow this is not the same Cotto Pacquiao beat!". And if he was boxing like that, lighter on his feet, displaying more finesse, I think it would have been a tougher fight for Pacquiao. I really think that Cotto reinvented himself. After seeing how he performed last night, I think we havent seen the best of Cotto. Cotto can very much still dominate top competition. I hope to see him fight again soon. But more importantly someone should welcome him back to the P4P rankings.

BQ: How much of Cottos improvement do you give to his new trainer? Did he finally find the perfect trainer he should stick with?

    6 AnswersBoxing10 years ago
  • Can Margaputo still redeem himself and get the respect as an elite once more?

Can Margarito get back the respect he lost after his series of defeats? Or once and for all Cotto just proved that No Plaster = No win.

Should Margarito still fight? Or there is no more point because cotto had his revenge already and Margaputo got whooped already by every available elite opposition out there?

Will Margarito be remembered as one of the great welterweights of this generation? Or will he be remembered as the man who won fights with his magic wraps
