MP3 to WAV to MP3?

Update:

I recorded some audio from an internet radio. The quality was 96kbps, I guess.

I had a wav file 1h and 45' long. I edited it using Audacity, then I splitted the tracks and now I want to save them back in compressed format.

Is it better to use a near CD quality or a 96kbps quality again?

I'm afraid the second option will worsen the quality.

Thank you in advance for any suggestion.

MP3 to WAV is pointless, it will be a WAV with the low quality of the original 96 kbps MP3, and the further step of reconverting it to another MP3 is equally pointless.

You are better off not doing anything
