Binomial Theorem Homework help?

My question is this...

can someone please explain (a+b)^3 to me. The anwser I get is...

=a^3 + 2a^2b + 4ab^2 + b^3

(to clarify, a^2 means a squared and a^3 means a cubed, same goes for b)

Update:

Can someone show me their math please

You did it wrong. The coefficient are the binomial coefficients from Pascal's Triangle: 1 3 3 1.

    Should be a^3 + 3a^2b + 3ab^2 + b^3
