removing insulation. ...?

Hi. I have 2 layers or insulation in my loft space (this is a modern UK house). I need to fit a loft ladder but this requires a floored section in the loft to attach the ladder to. In order to floor it I need to remove a 1 meter section of insulation. Is this ok?

You shouldn't need to remove both layers of insulation. Just the over-layer.

If the lower layer is still too high then pull the top 2-3" off.
