Why is my dog afraid of cups, bottles, soda cans, Tupperware?

Update:

My 2 year old basset hound is terrified of any small container, particularly if they can contain liquid. I don't know why, I don't recall any sort of incident that would have caused that.

Because they are all new to him. I got a dog once that was terrified of empty coffee mugs, and other small items. So, I set them on the floor and sprinkled tiny bits of broken up treats around them. After a few repetitions, the dog had zero fear of coffee mugs, Tupperware containers, mixing bowls and other miscellaneous things.

Most likely a poorly bred, genetically deficient dog.

Genetically fearful temperament, perhaps combined with a total lack of socializing.
