  • Puppy kicked by horse, family refusing to get medical attention?

A friend is telling me his puppy was kicked by a horse and appears to be slipping to a coma but his parents refuse to take it to a vet for medical attention. He asked if he should report the incident as animal cruelty, but he's a legal adult and the owner of the puppy. He has no money or car to take the poor thing to the vet, but if he reports his family could he end up being charged as well?

  • Puppy kicked by horse, slipping into coma?

A friend is telling me his puppy was kicked by a horse and appears to be slipping to a coma but his parents refuse to take it to a vet for medical attention.

What can I tell my friend to do? And could someone be charged with animal cruelty for this?

  • Linguists! Help?

Creating conlangs is a bit of hobby of mind. They never end up fully complete, but hey it's fun. Aaanyway, I need a little inspiration for what kind of sounds I want to use. I'm looking for unique, weird, or uncommon sounds existing in world languages (no Khoisan 'click' sounds, though). Thanks for help and contribution!

  • I'm interested in Sikhism?

I've spent a lot of time studying Hinduism, but I'm starting to think it's not for me. While I love Hinduism and feel connected to Krishna and Durga, I'm starting feel it's not me. I've studied VERY basic Sikh beliefs, and think I might look more into Sikhism. But, for any Sikhs here, I have a few questions about Sikhism. I've read Gurdwaras don't have priests like other faiths, so who do I go to if I have questions about Sikhi or if I'd like to learn about the history of Sikhi? And if I go to Gurdwara, what will I do? Will I have to participate in anything like chanting or prayers? If so, do I have to know specific chants or prayers beforehand? And also, what should I wear?

And, in your opinion, is it wrong from a Sikh to be able to see God in all forms and by all names? Be it Krishna, Allah, or Yeshua?

One last question, how do you view the attitude towards members of the LGBT people in the Sikh community? Because I'm gay and while I don't believe the Gurus ever condemned being gay and only ever promoted equality, but I would like to know how the general attitude is.

Thank you for your time! :) Forgive my ignorance and God bless!

  • Hey, linguists!?

While I'm definitely not a linguists, I like studying the history of language and love phonology. I've noticed that it's plausible for a language to exist without adjectives. Instead of 'the ball is red' it would be 'the ball is a red' or combine what would be the adjective in English with a noun (it's a redball). Is there actually a language that does this?

  • Linguists: I'm making a constructed language, help?

I'm making a constructed language and am not sure of all the consonant sounds I want to be used in it. I want it to sound very elegant, sounds you might hear Elves sing in Lord of The Rings, so I don't want sounds I consider too harsh (examples include dʒ, the Arabic 'kh', ). But I want to be more creative with the consonants I use, any would help be awesome. Please and thank you <3

New Delhi, Amritsar, Vrindavan, Mathura, Varanasi, Kolkata

A majority of the tourists sites I'll see are temples but how many US dollars (or rupees) do you think I'd spend a day for food & shopping? Just your approximation. Thank you!

  • What is this Bhagavad Gita verse?

I saw this quoted from the Gita but can't find the verse. I've read the Gita twice and can't recall it, so I'm not sure it's actually in there. However, my copy may have just worded it differently.

  • Hindus: question?

As I get more involved in Hinduism, I'm realizing just how many Indian-born Hindus frown upon Westerners associating themselves with Hinduism.

I've been told that a white Hindu is an 'oxymoron' and that I will not be allowed into a mandir (despite the fact I know many Western-born white Hindus who visit temples regularly, and they're not affiliated with ISKCON).

So, I've decided, that if people are angry if I identify as 'Hindu' than I will not go by that term. After all, "Hindu" is not even in Indian word, it comes from the Persian 'Hindhu' reffering to the people across the Sindhu (Indus) river. But what is your opinion on me still reading the Gita? Performing pujas? Fasting on festival days? Chanting Om Namah Shivaya and the Gayatri mantra? Can I still do that or am I too white to find Sanatana Dharma?

  • Any other gay guys here despise tumblr?

I just hate everything about it. The way tumblr turns fandoms into something stupid, all the social justice bullshit, just everything. Yet I feel like every gay guy I know freaking worships it. Pretty much all it's good for, imo, is porn and food porn.
