Jake solved the quadratic equation 6x^2 - 6 = 0 and showed the following steps.?

Did he work out the problem correctly? If not, why not?

6x^2 - 6 = 0

6(x^2 - 1) = 0

6(x - 1)(x + 1) = 0

6 = 0 or x - 1 = 0 or x + 1 = 0

    6x² - 6 = 0

    6x² = 6

    x² = 1

    x² = (± 1)²

    x = ± 1
