    God is love. To hold someone who does not want to love is contrary to love. Therefore each of us must be free to leave Him. But God is also life and He tells us that there cannot be life apart from Him. It would be a logical contradiction. So to turn away from God is to turn away from life and there isn't anything more God can do.
