RHH: Your views on Nicki Minaj (+BQs)?

Nicki Minaj was a dope hip artist before fame. As soon as she became famous, the industry like they do most artist took control of her ART and created a goofy image for her and like the thirsty trick she is she agreed. She went and got surgery done to look more appealing" to the masses and the rest is history. Nicki Minaj has absolutely no soul and is a cloned version of lil Kim. There is better talent out there. But your not going to find it in popular music. Most of it is brainwashed, dumbed down garbage.

I think she's a fairly mediocre rapper who tries to cover up her failures through gimmicks and substance. Problem is, her substance is what repels me more than any other part of her music. She has a collection of personas, each of which disgusts me and tend to contradict each other. None have any real depth and are obvious bids to shallow popularity with teenage girls (what the **** is up with the barbie ****?), and when she's not doing that garbage she overly sexualizes herself, sometimes making even me uncomfortable (peep her verse on MILF by Big Sean...yeesh). Musically she's just garbage...I've enjoyed songs of her before but it's hard to get past her pretenses to even enjoy individual tracks. Excuse me if I don't appreciate the aesthetic of a girl abruptly switching between imitations of popular-girl-in-school to jamaican-rasta stereotypes, and then to some puerile sociopathic character. She lacks any and all subtlety and her sycophancy nearly removes my ability to like her music.

Nothing wrong with liking her; she puts out the occasional decent track, but you've got something wrong there...the media doesn't portray her to be a dumb barbie doll, that's how she markets herself.

BQ: Not really, but there were certainly some songs I didn't mind listening to when I wasn't paying attention to what she was saying.

BQ2: I'm not sure...I vaguely remember her doing some decent verses before rising to popularity but that was quite a while ago now. Otherwise - monster, I guess.

She is such an amazing rapper and she purts good meaning in a lot of her songs like fly. Agree with her being the best female rapper and she is my favorite rapper. She proves herself a lot in songs what she is truly made of and can work well with other artists/rappers to make a great song. Totally agree with the media and like the other day there was a question on here to choose between her or Justin Bieber and majority of people said they were both equally as bad.

BQ1:Loved it very much and loved the incorpation of different artists/rappers coz I thought it worked really well. My favorite song was bed of lies.

Dessa is a lot better I think, I agree though her verse on 'Monster' was sick. I don't think you can blame the media for depicting her as a dumb barbie doll, it is brought on and perpetuated by herself to a large extent.

Bq: Nah, I didn't like the singles at all, so I just thought I would skip it. I have heard her first album though.

Honestly, she was a dope rapper a couple of years ago. I don't really fûck with any of her new music as it gets on my nerves. One of the best females rappers.

BQ1: I heard a few tracks so I can't really have a solid opinion on it. It was okay at best.

She does Karaoke rather well....

I think she is piss poor....i think most people get caught up into hype they actually buy into it over the course of time....someone actually said a great word to describe her already....Annoying....

Lyrically i think she is basic....and she tries to compensate with gimmicky sound pitches and flows...there is no substance in the end....

Also lets not forget what kind of image she potrays herself as....she is a terrible example of what it is to be a woman....let alone Black woman....shallow, antagonistic, hypocritical, and alienates her own race....

bq1: it was her most decent effort....but outside of Pillz and Potions there wasn't really anything that stood out on the album in regards to creativity or even skill....plus its all fly by night music...gone by november....2.75/5

I really don't like her. The one example you gave of a good verse was Monster which was from 2010, and I really don't think it was a good verse anyway. Have you heard her verse on Only? It's one of the worst things I have ever heard.

Not a big fan of her music, but Nicki herself is a very cool person.

Don't particularly like her, but I respect the fact that you do. I don't like Lil Wayne or Drake, and she just seems like another one of those kind of artists.
