RHH: Moment Of Truth vs Illadelph Halflife (+BQs)?

Which album do you prefer? Moment of Truth by Gang Starr or Illadelph Halflife by The Roots?

BQ1: What's your favorite songs on Moment of Truth and on Illadelph Halflife?

BQ2: What's your favorite Hip Hop album to listen to when you just want to relax and chill out?

BQ3: Boogie Down Productions or Geto Boys?

Non-RHH:

Q1: What is up with this little crown next to our name saying "Top Contributor"? It keeps coming on and off on my account so I was wondering do you know exactly why we get it does it have to do with points?

I prefer Illadelph Halflife but by a small margin..Moment Of Truth is a great album but a little dated imo and doesn't have much replay value for me. Illadelph Halflife has the better production, slightly better lyrics and as a whole, was put together more nicely. Honestly though, the only songs I consistently listen to off Illadelph Halflife are Respond/React and Section and it's probably my least favorite Roots album although it's still possibly in my top 25-30 albums of all time..I acknowledge the album for how great it is but it just never grew on me I suppose. Still, I rarely listen to any songs off of Moment Of Truth aside from the title track so Illadelph Halflife both in terms of which is better and personal preference.

    BQ1:

Moment Of Truth - Moment Of Truth

Illadelph Halflife - Respond/React, Section, What They Do & The Hypnotic..In that order actually.

BQ2: I don't necessarily listen to albums but rather songs..But I'll name the albums that a majority of the songs I

Source(s): listen to are on.. Things Fall Apart by The Roots, ATLiens by OutKast and Like Water For Chocolate by Common sounds about right. BQ3: Geto Boys..I don't see how the others chose BDP with such confidence.

I think I'd give this to Illadelph Halflife, but I don't think it's better than all of Gang Starr's albums. Illadelph Halflife is one of The Roots more effective experimental albums and has a lot of interesting song concepts and structure to it—while Moment of Truth featured Guru and Premier with updated styles, Illadelph Halflife might be what I consider the consummation of The Roots's career.

BQ: Above the Clouds and Rep Grows Bigga, Concerto of the Desperado and Respond/React

BQ2: Cinemetropolis by Blue Scholars, perhaps?

BQ3: These days I think I have a bit of a southern lean, but I think BDP is the correct answer on this one.

Q1: If you answer a bunch of **** weekly and/or get enough best answers you're marked as a top contributor. I'm sure they have some kind of formula for it. It used to be you had this phat orange badge under your profile, it was sick.

Both are in my top 25 and are perhaps two of the greatest hip hop albums of all time. But my pick is definitely Illadelph. The production is more impressive, the lyrics blow the lyrics on Moment of Truth out of the water and Illadelph has more replay value. I honestly think that a lot of Gang Starr's music is outdated as they always had some form of an 80's hip hop sound to them. So my pick is Illadelph Halflife.

    BQ1:

Illadelph Halflife: What They Do/Section/Respond React

Moment of Truth: Royalty, Moment of Truth, You Know My Steez

BQ2: Uptown Saturday Night by Camp Lo

BQ3: The Boogie Down by far. No quesion about it.

Q1: I honestly don't know, man. It's very confusing and I have never understood but I've had my crown since December if I remember correctly. I guess it also depends on how active you are as well.
