Who fixes RV heaters?

We own an rv and recently the hot water went out so did the a/c. We just got the a/c fixed now we don't know who to call for the heater. We need someone who will come out to us as we can't move the rv. Do we call a plumber?

If it has a glycol heater, you will need someone savvy at diagnosing the burner control. There may also be a separate 12/24 volt fuel pump from the main diesel tank not supplying fuel to the burner if the burner is diesel fired. It is usually the burner control from my experience working on glycol heat exchanger type burners or a pressure leak causing shutdown due to the loss of the 15 psi system or radiator cap.

If it is a gravity flow propane unit, any furnace guy can fix it for you. A simple thermocouple type gas valve issue.

You saying no hot water tells me it's most likely a glycol loop system zoned thermostatic boiler unit under the RV.

Best to start with calling an RV place to see if they could or recommend someone in your area. Not all plumbing or heating companies work on RV's but wouldn't hurt to try them too. I myself do mostly residential and commercial heating and cooling but do work on RV equipment. It's more of a specialized field and best to find someone specializing in that area as they will likely have standard parts on hand.

    Hi there,

Look in the local phone book for an RV dealer.

If they do not service they can recommend someone who does.

    Hope this helps,

    Al

Call your nearest RV dealer/ repair shop, see who they would recommend. Not all would be familiar with the RV heaters and where to get parts.

Look online or in your yellow pages for people who specialize in RV repairs for HVAC. These can be tricky--and expensive.

If the person that fixed the A/C doesn't service heaters as well, I would BET they would gladly recommend someone that does.

Locate a chain smoker in the trailer park. They usually know the best handy man in the area.
