The universe exists because it exists. It apparently had to. There's no particular reason in terms of what we think of as a reason. The best I can tell you is that it appears that a fundamental property of existence is a continual increase in complexity. So the most basic forms of existence combine to produce more and more complex forms, and eventually, here we are communicating with each other through a language.

The process is known as emergence.

Why does there have to be a why?

Cause and effect is a tool humans use to figure things out. Many people would like to ascribe reasons and causality to things because it makes them feel better, even if those reasons are completely erroneous and absurd. They'd rather pretend to know (belief) than accept not knowing, or that there may not be an answer.

The universe could not care less whether we understand it.

    Why does the universe exist?

--- I'm not convinced that the universe can not exist.

If there were no universe, there would be non-being....how can non-being be?

It didn't just happen, it is idiotic to believe there was nothing then the universe created. If there was nothing, then nothing could have been created. Even if you believe in big bang, something caused the big bang.

Genesis 1:1-2 can be agreeable with big bang. In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth, and the earth was void and formless, and darkness was upon the face of the deep, and the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

Genesis 1:3- God said let there be light and there was light. The universe didn't happen by chance, the power of God created the universe.

    God is the uncreated Creator.

Does it have to have a why?

No. There's no rhyme or reason for anything in the universe, including the universe. It has whatever meaning we choose to give to it, but it won't be universal.

Existence is existence and only man needs to associate a why to existence. Live exists to continue hence the evolution of the species.

There is no evidence the universe was created. Asking "why" is to assume a reason, which is already to assume too much.

The question implies there's a purpose, and there's no reason to think there is.

Because God decided to make it. There is no other reason than that. Like all great artists, He creates all things for his pleasure.

Rev 4:11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.

    Why does the universe exist?

    Unknown...

Although some seem to want it to be a god, and their god in particular...
