Computer science BA or certificate?
I am 26 years old and I'm really starting to worry about wasting my time. Originally I had in mind you get a BA in Computer Science. I felt like it would open more doors for me in doing anything from Web Development to software engineering. Time's going by so fast and I'm still just doing my core classes at a local community college. I'm horrible at math so I'm taking one class at a time in order to keep my grades up. I recently found that my school offers a Web Developer certificate. It would take me probably less than a year to complete. I don't know what to do. Should I go for the certification, start working and then continue to my BA or should I hang in there and keep at the BA? My passion is absolutely in editing, graphic and Web design and development. Here is the link to the certificate program in case you need more details. It is a pdf download.

You are correct that a computer science degree will open more employment doors. CS graduates are in very high demand right now, and I don't see that changing in the future.
That being said, if your passion is for web development rather than writing software, I cannot help but recommend that you take that route. It's ALWAYS better to do something that you truly enjoy. One caveat that I can think of is that every web developer that I know is either a self-employed graphic designer, or working for a larger graphic design house on a contract basis. In the former case, being self-employed requires a lot of drive and long hours, and in the latter case, you may not be paid or treated very well. However if you feel that you have the drive and know that you have the passion, then there is no reason at all why you could not make a success of it.
Good luck!
