Why does Obama believe he deserves a pat on the back for cutting the deficit?

I suppose that TECHNICALLY the US spending deficit has been cut in half (only after it was quadrupled). But how does that explain WHYour deficit was well over $1 trillion for the first 4 years Obama was in office? Keeping in mind that Democrats controlled both houses of Congress the first two years of his first term!

2009: $1.4 trillion

2010: $1.2 trillion

2011: $1.3 trillion

2012: $1.0 trillion

2013: $680 billion

2014: $483 billion

2015: $583 billion

Obama was sworn into off in January 2009. At that time you're saying the deficit was already at 1.4 trillion so is that Obama's fault or the string of presidents prior to him?

If you believe that Obama has cut the deficit, I have ocean front property in Iowa that I will sell to you for a million dollars.

  • The deficit was well over a trillion dollars when it was handed off to Barry, thanks to the Bush tax cuts, Medicare expansion two wars and the bailout of Wall Street. It took time to bring it down with Republicans filibustering every attempt to fix it.

"technically" means he cut the deficit in 2/3rds, not 1/2.
