Will 17 gage galvanized steel wire work for a ground wire running to the grounding rods for an electric fence?

    The ground will make or break an electric fence. It also depends on how much wire you plan on making hot. If you are talking garden size, you will probably be okay. If you are talking miles of fence for cattle, etc. I would suggest something like an 8 gauge copper wire and the rod at least 3 feet deep. Deeper if you have very dry soil.
