Will Southwest Airlines refund tickets /or give voucher if a travel companion is hospitalized?
A friend and I had a trip planned to Seattle next weekend but he got hospitalized yesterday. I don't know when he will be released, but I know for sure his health won't allow him to go. I know airlines usually don't refund tickets, but can they make an exception? Or even transfer the ticket to another person?
At this point, it's either they refund it or I go alone. What would you do? Any advice is welcomed. Thanks

Unless you purchased the Wanna Get Away fare from Southwest, you will be able to get a refund/credit from Southwest. They have one of the best refund policies. Contact the airline to check your options.
If you did purchase the WGA fare, you can still change your ticket to a later date. But you can't cancel and get a refund.

Unless your friend bought a full fare ticket or you purchased travel insurance you will not get a refund or be able to get the ticket transfered to another person.
However, if you contact Southwest Airlines BEFORE the flight and cancel they will give your friend full credit toward another flight in the next year. But again the credit will be in their name.
