can i get my split at 15?!?
So I'm a beginnerish at dance and so I've been stretching out my split the past year or so. It's REALLY close but since I'm so old is it possible to get it all the way? If not, is basically there good enough for ballet?

It is entirely possible to achieve a split at any age. I think it's best to stretch after a dance class- or after a workout because your muscles and joints are all warmed up. Stretching cold muscles is dangerous and much less effective.
To achieve a split- the only thing you can really do is keep stretching- Every single day. Again; Make sure you've warmed up your body with a jog or something and then do some pike stretches, and you can even lay on your back and pull one leg towards your chest and leave the other flat against the floor- and of course just practice your splits and hold as long as you can go down for about fifteen seconds for it to really be effective.
You just have to keep at it everyday and I guarantee you they'll be down in two weeks if you say they're really close. Good luck and remember to stretch your muscles safely, pulling and tearing muscles is no fun and it really hurts; believe me.

Yes! Of course you can! I got my right split at 8 and I've had my left split for about a year now and I'm 14, and I'm not working on oversplits, just stretch and practice and keep going at it!

Doing a split is not necessary for ballet. Your age should not stop you from getting your split. Especially as you are only 15. Hopefully you always warm up before you stretch.

You can get your splits at any age, and I'm not sure why anyone would think otherwise. Keep stretching. I mean, it will be harder because young young girls have muscles that become more flexible more easily, but that being said, you can do splits at any age. I mean I got mine at like 16 or 17, I don't really care to remember exactly when, but I still did it.

Dude, same!! I'm 15, and after just over a year, I got both of mine (not center tho) about a month ago. My ballet teacher had us all sitting on the floor and stretching for a long time. I was just moving my legs around in any way that felt good and stretchy, and at the same time, I was talking to my bro, Charlotte. Then, I just kind of swung one of my legs behind me, without really noticing, and Charlotte pauses mid-sentence and goes, "Whoa, when did you get your splits?" and I was like "...Um, just a second ago, I think." and then I tried it with the other leg in front, and that worked too!! It was awesome.

It may be harder to get it at 15, but it is possible! I am 15 and just got my center. if its right/left hold your hands above your head and you may get it all the way down or a lot farther! If its center dont use them to hold your self up.

Absolutely! Just keep yourself warm when you stretch and stretch for about a half hour. Don't push yourself too hard because you don't want to pull anything.
