First big schooling show with my horse?

It's more of a B rated show but listed as a schooling show. We are doing the 2ft hunter division which is 2ft hunters, 2ft EQ, EQ on the flat, hunters on the flat, and then another. Im 17 but never really showed. My horse can be a tad bit quick during the course and sometimes he won't get his leads, but there's only change of direction in the course. I'm schooling in the morning so he will be prepared but how can I keep my nerves down and do the best we can do?

If you board at a stable, enlist a few riders and their horses and play "horse show." If possible, take him to a couple local shows and walk him around so that he gets used to the commotion. Practice, practice, practice, practice until you and your horse can do everything with your eyes closed and he's a tad bit bored. Make a list of everything you need to bring and do, and be sure that all your tack, equipment, apparel, etc. is clean and packed the night before to keep yourself less frazzled on show day. Make sure that you enter classes that reflect skills that you have already mastered rather than ones you are sill working on; perhaps since it IS your first show, just do one division, or maybe just 1 over fences and 1 under saddle class in each division. Remind yourself that it is a learning experience; whatever happens, you can always do better at another show later this season.

    Have fun and good luck!

Hunting horses is a hard task. You have to be prepared to end their life if they are caught in a trap. Horses are pest in many preservations so good luck.

Breathe when you're in the ring! Practice getting forward strides and coming down to collected strides at home.
