Now that roses have no odor, are they still desirable?

It's been about 30 years since I have smelled sweet roses at a florist shop. Roses are pretty; lots of flowers are. But what makes a rose special to me is the smell. I won't buy roses that don't smell like roses. I'm surprised anybody else will. I'm surprised women even want them now. Bring back the scented roses!

I also grow roses that appeal to me visually, so I have both scented and unscented roses. The smell of some roses can be nauseating. I'd much rather smell Oriental Lilies or Northern Lights Azaleas, even petunias, than many of the scented roses.

I think the looks of a flower are important for sure, but there's just something magical of a summer evening fragrant with flowers. I would rather have a gorgeous flower with a lovely scent than just a gorgeous flower. But that's just me :)

They ae desrable for the beauty of the flowers. Not all modern roses are odorless many new ones have been bred with smell back in them.
